Nigerian Archbishop and the Christian Response to Boko Haram

I recently traveled to our Washington D.C. bureau where I met with Benjamin Kwashi, Anglican archbishop of Jos, Nigeria.
Jos is the capital of Plateau State, where Christians have suffered traumatizing raids on their villages and brutal murders at the hands of Islamic militants. Tens of thousands of Nigerian Christians have been killed or injured in Plateau State during the past decade.
Rev. Kwashi and I talked about how the country’s Christians have responded to recent church bombings committed by the terrorist group Boko Haram. A portion of my interview was broadcast last week on our international news program, Christian World News.
If you missed it, you may view it here and respond to the Bishop’s suggestion that Christians should not take up arms and retaliate when they are attacked by militant Muslims.
Let me know what you think. Is it time for Nigerian Christians to take up arms, form a militia, and defend themselves?
Also, who is Boko Haram? Bishop Kwashi says they are not just a bunch of well-armed street thugs. Watch more of my interview with the archbishop here:

I agree with the Archbishop that Christians shouldn't take up arms and join militias. God commanded us to obey our governments, and Jesus warned us that we would face persecution.

I don't think that they should just stand by and watch others be killed. The government is not killing the people the rogue Islamist are the ones doing the killing. Secondly we should pray for them.

ITS A SHAME THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR THESE CHRISTIANS...HOW CAN THEY ALLOW INNOCENT PEOPLE TO BE KILLED AND STAND BY AND DO NOTHING. GOD IS LOVE AND HE WHO KNOWS GOD HAS LOVE IN HIS HEART FOR HIS FELLOW MAN.........YOU DON'T SEE OR HEAR OF CHRISTIANS KILLING MUSLIMS FOR THEIR BELEIFS........I WILL BE KEEPING ALL CHRISTIANS IN PRAYER FOR THEIR SAFETY AND WELL BEING AND ASK GOD TO PUT AN END TO THE VIOLENCE AND MURDERS IN THIS REGION AND EVERYWHERE CHRISTIANS ARE SUFFERING FOR THEIR FAITH.

Yes Jesus promised us persecution as Christians, but the government of Nigeria is doing nothing to contain that killing.our main duty is to stand with them in prayer, for peace to prevail Christians are not allowed to stand and fight for Jesus,Jesus is fighting for them.our brothers Muslims should know that every has right to live and exercise is religious beliefs without any interference by anybody,or government.my question is why are they killing the same people they have lived with them for all those years for the sake of faith? where is it written in the Koran or bible people should kill each other for God?
